Navigating the Massachusetts State House
The State House has two entrances:
24 Beacon Street entrance is across from the Boston Common
Ashburton Plaza entrance is wheelchair accessible at the intersection of Bowdoin and Ashburton Streets
Getting to the Great Hall
Go to the second floor from any entrance. Enter through glass doors on either side of the Grand Staircase
Navigating to Your State Legislators’ Offices
The sub-basement, basement and first floor of the State House are split in two sections. From the Great Hall:
Room 7 (sub-basement), 20- 43 (basement) and 122-155 (1st floor) are immediately below the Great Hall. Go down the Grand Staircase or take elevators on either side of the Great Hall.
Rooms 109-112 and 156-185 (1st floor) are on the opposite end of the State House. Walk down the long hallway past the Hall of Flags all the way to the far elevators or stairs and go down one floor.
To navigate between both sections, you must be in the 2nd-5th floors to cross the long hallway.
Restrooms and other services
Public restrooms are located on all levels except the third floor.
From Ashburton Entrance: All gender public restrooms are located in the basement between rooms 26 and 27. Additional public restrooms: Men’s is in room 14 and women’s is in room 44. On the first floor, men’s and women’s restrooms are on either side of room 136.
From Beacon entrance: The closest public bathroom is next to room 185 on the first floor.
Second floor bathrooms are located at rooms 237L and 236M
Fourth floor bathrooms are located across from the cafeteria.
